For the past couple of days I’ve been working on a few different things. The big one being the FAFSA so I can hopefully get something out of it this year. I’ve decided that the University of Phoenix Online is the route I intend to take for school. I’m going in for Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Multimedia and Visual Communication. It’s 120 credits and like $45,000. The first sixty credits are the Bachelor of Science, the remaining 60 are the focus in Multimedia and Visual Communication. So it’s safe to say that once I get rolling with everything, I’ll be pretty busy for the next year or so (as far as school is concerned.)
I picked up a few freelance jobs this past week so I’ve been busy with those. I’ve had to create a few Wordpress Plugins that weren’t readily available. One was a basic Javascript, the other was an email thing that I just couldn’t find anywhere else. I like coming up with new and interesting things, it keeps my mind working. Something I desperately need these days considering how tired I’ve been.
I think it’s the constant up and down with the weather, but I’ve been feeling under the weather so that really isn’t helping me too much. One day it’s 90*F the next it’s 66*F. Why in holy hell is it bouncing around like this? Just about everyone is sick, and I’m starting to feel the effects as well. I’m OK as far as allergies and stuff go, I’m lucky enough to just have a food allergy and not an “allergic to everything” kind of allergy. Sean’s pretty bad when it comes to the typical dust, pollen and other outdoors kind of allergies, so with the upwind and all the other things going on he’s really not doing too well. The poor thing can’t breath at all.
In any event, guess it’s time to get back to work. I’d like to have these projects completed by Sunday and being as it’s officially Friday (about 12:30 AM here) I guess my time is limited.
W3.org & HTML Help Errors

I’m really not sure what’s going on but every time I go to test krissyville.net on either of the validators I get an error telling me that my site is under construction and I have no doctype set to the page for proper validation. The kicker is I can load the site just fine on multiple computers, and even through a few IP masks just to be sure that things aren’t blocked out when they clearly shouldn’t be. I know that the site validates though, I have a Validation Check with Firefox where you view the source and it points out the problem areas. I found a new and interesting Permalink technique and after about a half hour of tweaking I was able to configure it for myself. I thought (at first) that it was a Wordpress plugin that I just couldn’t find but now that I’ve figured out the basics and worked in proper Wordpress ID’s, I can very easily use it on just about any template and not have to worry about Validation going all wonky on me.
Either way I’m confused with the validators situation, but I’m sure I’ll get around them sooner or later. I just don’t like being told that there are 12 errors on my site that clearly aren’t there in the source. And as for the bad-code…none of it is even located on the site so that’s another red flag for me.
Oh well…it’ll fix itself eventually.
On the plus side - Thanks to another Firefox add on, I’ve found out that W3.org is one of the few PR10 sites on the Internet. Big congrats to them heh.

I was woken up about 8:30 this morning by the landscapers. I assume that with the past series of storms they were delayed a few days on getting here. They showed up this morning and I was happy to see that the one doing our lawn actually went out of his way to get as close as possible without considering it to be ‘trim work’ which costs an extra $30 or so a month and they don’t even do a good job so it’s better to spend $30 on your own weed-whacker.
I went to roll back into bed when I saw that Bella wasn’t going to be a problem. She tends to bark her head off when landscapers come through in the mornings. Today she was relatively calm, not even a grumble so I figured getting a few more hours wouldn’t be such a bad deal - until I looked down at the floor.
Sean didn’t take her out last night for her nightly walk because of the rain, being as she was sick for most of last night I figured that would be OK considering she’d dropped a few monster loads in the house that weren’t formed at all. I wasn’t too happy to see them on the bedroom floor this morning. That typically means she’s very sick because she’s good at not doing anything on the floor in here, you don’t shit where you sleep - you know?
So I woke up and cleaned up what I could, my mind was awake but my body was asleep so I did half-ass it a bit. After I woke up a few hours later I pulled out the “Little Green” and cleaned up what was now soaked into the rug. It did the trick, and after the heavy-duty clean and the disinfecting - I’m not too concerned about something coming up in the future.
I’m not sure why she’s sick, she’s really been up and down for the last couple of weeks and I’m starting to get concerned considering the large bump on her stomach has grown to epic proportions over the course of the past couple of months. I unfortunately can’t afford to bring her to the vet to have it taken care of. She’s had it since she was a puppy, the original vet said it was a non-cancerous tumor and I had nothing to be concerned with. When it’s about the size of a golf-ball now and her horrible up and down days - I really don’t know what to think anymore. I just don’t have the $500 it would take to cover the vet visit which would include all of her shots and a biopsy on the area.
So after the carpet cleaning, I wondered outside and accomplished some of the minor yard work. I’ve been good at keeping up on things for the past couple of weeks so it was really just getting myself to the side of the house and chopping down some of the overgrown grass along the house (that isn’t even considered trim work when it comes to our landscapers) so having that $30 weed-whacker isn’t such a bad idea is it?
I eventually got myself into the shower and now I’m sitting here working on completing some updates to my portfolio and a few other things. Email was the first priority today but that’s based on the financial matters. I’ve submitted my resume to a few different companies and I’m waiting on response for a few jobs I put bids in on. Hopefully something will stick. I know of quick blog work with a previous client and the possibility of being accepted for a corporate site but after that I’m still going to get myself out there as much as possible - hence the updated Portfolio.
In any event, it’s half past six and I need to get something on the stove. I know Sean is pretty hungry since he only eats once a day and I’m starving because I haven’t had anything since lunch and it’s hard to stick to a diet if you’re only eating once a day.

I woke up very early this morning in anticipation for the landscapers. I make it a point to be outside so that they properly cut the grass when they finally make it to our house. If I’m not out there they tend to half-ass it and kind of brush over one area and call it a day. I understand they have a lot of lawns to cut but seriously now - you’re being paid by the hour to do a job - why must you insist on doing the most amount of jobs in the least amount of time? Efficiency is the only proper way to work, but I guess when you don’t understand English and are working off the books - you can get away with it.
But either way, come 9:30am (their typical time-frame) I didn’t hear the rumble of all the mowers coming up the block. Around 11:30 I poked outside again and they still weren’t there. By 1:00PM I figured they weren’t going to bother even showing up at all. By now the exhaustion had set in. I’d only gotten about 3 hours of sleep last night so being up and moving around for the morning took a lot more out of me than someone who’d had a solid 8 hours of sleep to work with.
I started redoing my portfolio and I also updated my resume. There are a few outsource positions open through some companies I found and I requested more information on the tasks they have and hopefully the updated portfolio will help me out. I’m also working on getting a new template up for krissy.nu, the pink is starting to bother me. I’d also like to remove a lot of the ads on acidgloss.net but I am actually making some decent money off of them so I guess time will tell with how far I’m going to go with that.
After I completed that, I couldn’t keep my eyes open so I wound up taking a bit of a nap. I hate sleeping during the day when there’s a lot of things to do but when you can’t function without that extra hour you’re basically useless. So I crashed for a little while, woke up and did some quick shopping and I’ve been accomplishing quite a bit ever since. Hopefully I’ll have it all completed before I’m ready to completely crash for the night, I just hope I don’t start falling asleep anytime soon, there’s still quite a bit of things left to do.
Baby Birdies

I took a bit of a break today after I got some work done. I still haven’t completed any of the cleaning I would have liked to start but I did manage to get two loads of laundry done so that certainly counts for something - doesn’t it?
I wondered outside and saw that the mommy bird wasn’t in the tree and I really wanted to know how many eggs she’d laid, the first snap of them only showed me two but to my surprise when I looked at the new pictures there were three eggs. I’m not sure how long the nest has been there, nor do I know when mommy dropped the eggs but I’ve been doing pretty well on keeping the tree protected from outside influences. The mommy bird and I are getting along pretty well. I leave her alone and she understands I’m not trying to take her eggs. She also witnessed me shooing away a large black bird that had planted himself up there in search for food. So I think she realizes that I’m not going to hurt anything.
I can’t wait until they hatch. Baby bird pictures, hopefully coming soon!
