So happy…

I don’t think that today could have gone any better. Sean and I were able to get the car fixed at $100 less than the original quote. We then hung out around the house for a little while. Dad, Sean and I went out to dinner at some diner that used to be an IHOP. After taking the long way home (half hour detour of just traveling around with the windows out on the jeep) we basically just relaxed and enjoyed the ride.
I have everything up and running with AGn Solutions. The new hosting plans are in place, the new pricing is in place, and thank god for the new company I’m going through because I now have a proper billing system that should help to keep everything running at ship-shape. Now all I need to do is push the advertising on it a bit more, but money talks so of course that will have to show up before anything. I have been able to figure out how to integrate things to another provider in regards to email management so I should be able to stay on top of things a lot better than I’ve been able to in the past.
So everything just seems to be looking up right now.
I’m working on a few things here as far as content goes. I’d like to finally get some of the templates up that I’ve been working on for the past few months, so we’ll see how much I can accomplish there. Maybe I’ll be able to finally come up with something that I like enough to publish to the rest of the world. I was contacted about sponsorships but I never responded due to my lack of creativity for the templates that they’re willing to sponsor.
Either way something will be done soon. I do have a lot of pictures to go through as well, there are a few creative entries that I’d like to throw up here as well.
A lot to do but no drive to do it - story of my life.

If you can read this then you’re looking at krissyville.net being loaded from a new data center. I was sick and tired of the previous service, it was always down and over the course of the last few months I’ve had some pretty heated arguments with Tony so that’s put a damper on business through the company. I’ve found a new host that comes highly regarded and I’m in the process of getting everything moved over. For the sake of DNS I had to transfer over all of my personal stuff first, and then I’ll go and work on the clients. I’m unable to find any files for krissy.nu which is why that site is currently down. I do have a back-up and I’m manually restoring it. I believe my hefty Wordpress database had a lot to do with it. While I only publish two years worth of archives, there’s about 5 years worth and it covers about 1,000MB, so I’m downsizing quite a bit and we’ll see where things go from there.
I’ve got a horrible cold, to the point that I can’t really concentrate on much of anything. It started out as a sore throat which came on instantly but only half of my throat was scratchy, I wound up falling asleep and by the time I’d woken up my entire throat was sore. The following day it turned into some pretty nasty chest congestion and now I’m dealing with the nasal end of things and I’ve just taken a strong dose of antibiotics because I honestly can’t focus on anything. I feel as though my head is going to explode which typically means the infection is heading north. I also have a pretty high fever, I think it was 103.something. At the same time, I have double vision so who knows what number actually showed up on that little digital output.
I think it’s time to get back to bed.

I’m still working on three different templates at once. My laptop is really lagging because Photoshop hasn’t been closed since Friday afternoon. Hopefully I’ll be able to put a few final touches on things tonight and get the chance to shut down for the evening. My laptop IS on the verge of death though. I’m not sure if I’m going to have to reinstall window or upgrade the RAM at some point, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see what happens.
I have been looking into new laptops. I really can’t afford to buy one at this very moment but that hasn’t stopped me from looking. Naturally I’d love to pick up a fully loaded 17″ MacBook Pro but who really has $4200 to kick around on a laptop these days?
I’m staying more in the $800 max range. I know that may not seem like much but I can get everything I’m looking for and still have the ability to run Mac OS X so naturally that works out well for me. All I need is an Intel based laptop with at least 2GB of RAM and the rest is history. I’ll install my Leopard disk after wiping out the very annoying Vista installation and then take it from there. I’ve found an ACER laptop that’s reasonably priced for what I’m looking for but unfortunately I’ve read reviews that note ACER is the worst Intel laptop to run Mac on - a lot of issues there.
So I guess I’ll see what I can do with an HP. Costco has some really well-priced ones and I can order it online when I’m ready - instead of trucking it all the way up to Dover to pick it up. I would never be dumb enough to purchase a laptop from Best Buy, with that huge lawsuit against them and my true dislike for the store there would really be no point in it, you know?
As for “Site News”, I’m hoping to convert this domain over to a true photo blog but I have to come up with a better template that will show off the images a lot better, instead of just having them pasted in the entry. I’ve found a Flickr based plug-in that makes it very simple to do that, this way I don’t have to load up my disk space here but I’ll see over time. I have other priorities at the moment, getting the bills paid being the main one right now.
I guess I should get back to work. It’s knocking on 12PM, I want to be done with everything by 1am so I can crash for the night - get up bright and early to start my Monday and take on the rest of the week with a clear head and loads of creativity - something the Photography is really helping me with. It used to be the beach, but now it’s just getting the camera in my hands and looking for all kinds of great photo opportunities!

Last night Sean and I were getting pretty antsy and really wanted to get out of the house for a while. We headed down to the beach in town and after about a half hour he looked at me and said “lets go get something to eat”. Now, the original plan was to head up the block to a pizzeria but then before we hit the car we decided on taking the trip down to Ocean City and going to Denny’s. It’s not a great place to eat when you’re dieting but at the same time, their beach is so much nicer than Rehoboth. It’s where the Bay and the Ocean meet up, there’s all kinds of things going on along the shore wave-wise and there are actually a few shops open on the pier this time of year, so why not?
We took a lot of pictures, I’ll have to work on getting those up and running later on because they’re floating around on my camera right now. I took them all in RAW format so I’m going to have to do some major resizing just to upload them. I’m also looking to start up a gallery here, maybe even make it a photo blog, who knows. I’ll have to see what happens when my mood changes.
I’m supposed to be shopping right now but Sean’s playing Halo 3 so who knows when we’re getting out of the house. :sigh:
Much Better

I spent some time in Photoshop tonight to make a REAL template for this blog. I wanted the Web 2.0 look without any of the Ajax functions and while it was difficult to do with only my touchpad mouse (on the laptop) I was able to get everything exactly where I wanted it to be. The header only took me about 20 minutes, coding took close to no time at all and I have to say I’m perfectly happy with how everything turned out.
A few changes include:
- The template, naturally.
- New Archives page.
- New Contact page.
- Actual Navigation.
- A few links on the sidebar for my feeds.
I’m considering setting up actual content here, but based on the fact that it’s a blog made specifically for rants and raves, there would really be no point in that. I’ll see what happens down the road, I may even go as far as creating some kind of a photo album on Flickr or even based on the site here with my own self-written script so I can bring in some more elements of my life. I don’t have many pictures of Sean and I, but I’m sure that will change over time. Another thing I was considering was a video blog, but even with my ongoing weight loss, I’m still a bit uneasy about being in front of the camera.
